Championship Format

The World Snooker Championship is played in a 'knockout' style and 'best-of' frames format.

Players compete in a 'best-of-19' frames format over two sessions in the initial qualifying rounds. The first player to win ten frames advances to the next round.

Once the tournament reaches the Crucible stage, the format extends. The first round features 'best-of-19' frames, splitting into two sessions. However, from the second round to the quarterfinals, the competition becomes a 'best-of-25' frames contest, divided over three sessions.

Moving on to the semi-finals, players battle it in a gruelling 'best-of-33' frames match, running across four sessions.

The epic grand finale is a 'best-of-35' frames contest over four sessions. The winner is declared World Champion, etching their name into the annals of snooker history.
