There was a second event on the PGA Tour this past week, as those who did not qualify for the Wells Fargo Championship took their talents to the Myrtle Beach Classic, with Chris Gotterup winning his first PGA Tour trophy. He was able to easily avoid the Myrtle Beach Classic cut line, while heading into the weekend he took over as the favorite in the Myrtle Beach Classic odds.

When it was all said and done, Gotterup finished at -22, a whopping six-stroke lead over Davis Thompson and Alistair Docherty, who finished tied for second at -16.

Current Favorites to win the Myrtle Beach Classic

Ben Griffin (+6000 at FanDuel sportsbook)

Another player favored to win and tied with Van Rooyen and Berger atop the list with the lowest odds to win the Myrtle Beach Classic is Ben Griffin. Sitting 88th in the official world golf rankings, 2024 has been an up and down year for the American. With 11 cuts made in 15 events this year, Griffin is looking to keep the consistency going this week. With just one top ten finish on his resume this year, Griffin has been playing some better golf as of late. A tie for 13th last time out at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson, he also has a tie for 14th and tie for 17th to show for the season.

With two career PGA Tour wins under his belt and one on the European Tour, Van Rooyen headlines the list of golfers to win this week in Myrtle Beach. Daniel Berger (+50000 at DraftKings sportsbook)

After missing significant time with an injury, Daniel Berger is back and ready to contend on the PGA Tour and looking at the odds to win the Myrtle Beach Classic others would have to agree. The four-time winner on the PGA Tour hasn’t tasted victory since his last win back in 2021 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Now down to 465th in the official world golf rankings Berger is trying to work his way back to the success he had back from 2016-2021 when he won four events over five seasons. Berger’s best showing on the PGA Tour this year was his last time out when he finished tied for 13th at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson.

Davis Thompson (+1600 at BetMGM sportsbook)

The former world number one amateur golfer, Davis Thompson, is one to consider when looking at the odds to win the Myrtle Beach Classic. Still in search of his first career victory on the PGA Tour, Thompson has shown flashes of brilliance during his young career. 127th in the official world golf rankings, Thompson has had what many would consider an up and down 2024. The 24-year-old does have six top 25 finishes this year and has only missed four cuts so far. He was on a streak of four straight tournaments making the cut before he missed playing the weekend the last time out at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson. Ready to win for the first time keep your eyes locked in on Thompson this week.

Beau Hossler (+9000 at BetMGM sportsbook)

Another player who had a brilliant amateur career is American Beau Hossler. Still in search of his first PGA Tour win, Hossler did lose in a playoff to Ian Poulter in the 2018 Houston Open. Sitting 81st in the official world golf rankings, Hossler has one top ten to his record this season. With nine cuts made in 12 events this season, Hossler had a season best showing tie for sixth at the Farmers Insurance Open last January. Having missed the cut in three of his last six events, Hossler does not come into the Myrtle Beach Classic in fine form. It will be interesting to see how he performs this week considering his up and down season so far.

Myrtle Beach Classic Longshot

Robert MacIntyre (+1000 at FanDuel sportsbook)

*Was +8000 at Caesars Sportsbook

A longshot golfer to win this week at the Myrtle Beach Classic is Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre. With two European Tour victories under his belt, MacIntyre is still in search of his first ever win on the PGA Tour. Sitting 84th in the official world golf rankings, MacIntyre has had a consistent year on the PGA Tour in 2024 with two top ten finishes. A tie for eighth two weeks ago at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, MacIntyre followed that up with a disappointing missed cut at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson tournament. MacIntyre has gone missed cut, made cut, missed cut, made cut, missed cut over his last five events.

Myrtle Beach Classic odds FAQ’s

What is the Dunes Club most known for?

The Dunes Club previously played host the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship on PGA Tour Champions from 1994 to 1999. Notable winners include Raymond Floyd and Hale Irwin. The Dunes Club also played host to the PGA Tour Q-School Finals in 1973 with Ben Crenshaw taking medalist honors.

What is Waterloo?

Waterloo is the name of the most famous hole at the Dunes Club, the par-5 13th hole. The fairway on the signature hole narrows the further out the player hits the ball off the tee. Don’t be surprised to see players use a 3-wood off the tee as the longer the drive the more trouble that potentially awaits.

What makes the Dunes Club play so fast?

Due to its high-tech drainage system, the course this week will play and usually plays very fast and firmly. Fairways are very narrow but get loads of roll if hit successfully. However, if you miss the fairway here, expect trouble as the second shot will never be easy when not playing from the fairway.

Who is Jimmy Stanger?

Jimmy Stanger is the winner of the 2016 Southern Amateur and the 2016 Hackler Collegiate Championship at the Dunes Club. After turning pro in 2017, Stanger went on to win the Compliance Solutions Championship for his first career win on the Korn Ferry Tour. Stanger will be in the field this week and will no doubt be a crowd favorite.
