In what began in 1974 as the Tournament Players Championship, The Players Championship is back at The Tournament Players Club Sawgrass, and we have you covered with The Players Championship odds. Though we won’t see Tiger Woods partake in this year’s tournament, we do a dive into the favorites to win The Players Championship, which can give you an edge when looking to place a wager on the event.

Scottie Scheffler returns, in hopes of defending his 2023 title. If he’s successful, he’ll be the first player to ever do so in the history of The Players Championship. Scheffler begins the tournament as the clear-cut favorite in The Players Championship betting odds, but there’s value to be found across the board.

Current favorites to win the 2024 Players Championship

Scottie Scheffler (+550 with BetMGM sportsbook)

Scheffler has been playing well leading up to the 2024 Players Championship. He’s coming off a tournament win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, where his putting was on point, after making a switch to a mallet model. His game has been looking sharp, as he’s the current favorite in The Players Championship odds. Scheffler has been showing a lot of confidence as of late and seems to be in a great rhythm.

Rory McIlroy (+2200 with FanDuel sportsbook)

Rory McIlroy became the first player in the ShotLink era to reach the green off the tee at Bay Hill’s 10th hole, as he put forth a valiant effort at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, making his charge on the back-9 that much more impressive. McIlroy struggled at the 2023 Players Championship, as it was his putting that did him in, so look for him to be dialed in early. In 2019 McIlroy took home the win at the Players Championship, though it doesn’t mean much if he can’t get his putting under control.

Justin Thomas (+9000 with Caesars Sportsbook)*Missed cut*

At the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Justin Thomas tied for 12th, as he finished with a -3. His driving accuracy was much better than usual, like most of his game throughout the tournament, though it wasn’t enough to claim the victory. Thomas’ year started of quite strong, but a poor showing at The Genesis Invitational was a bump in the road, expect him to come out hot at The Players Championship. He won the tournament in 2021, so he knows what it takes to bring it home.

The Players Championship 2024 longshot

Shane Lowry (+15000 with FanDuel sportsbook)

The start to Shane Lowry’s 2024 wasn’t particularly good, to be frank, it was abysmal. But over the last couple of tournaments his game has really come around, as his driving, irons, and putting has been extremely consistent. He finished tied for fourth at the Cognizant Classic and then came in third in the Arnold Palmer Invitational. In the 2023 Players Championship, he had a bit of a rough go, but finished strong.

As things currently stand, most of the best betting sites are listing Scheffler as the clear favorite to win The Players Championship for a second year in a row. However, BetMGM sportsbook is giving McIlroy the slight edge over Scheffler and Jon Rahm. How to read Player Championship betting odds

When you see odds for golf betting, they typically appear like +500 or -250. Let’s break it down using an example:

If you come across odds such as +500 on Scottie Scheffler to win the Player Championship, it means if you were to place $100 bet on him to win outright, your total payout would be $600. Or you wanted to beat on whether a hole-in-one would occur, and you wager $100 on odds of -220 that there won’t be a hole-in-one, your total payout would be $145.45.

It’s all about assessing risk and potential reward when making your bets!
