  • Matt Kuchar

The biggest shock is Justin Thomas, who had odds of -260 to make the cut.

Betting on the Players Championship cut line

In golf tournaments, there is a cut line that determines which golfers get to continue playing in the tournament and which ones are eliminated. Usually, the top players with the lowest scores after the first two rounds make the cut and get to play the weekend rounds.

As a bettor, you can use the cut line to help determine your bets by taking into consideration how certain players perform in the first two rounds. If you see a player consistently making the cut in past tournaments, they might be a safe bet to make the cut in the current one as well. But remember, nothing is a guarantee.

Players Championship cut rule

The cut rule in golf is an important aspect of that determines which players get to continue competing over the weekend and which players are eliminated after the first two rounds. In most professional golf tournaments, including PGA Tour events and major championships, the cut is typically made after the second round, which is usually the halfway point of the tournament.

The cut line is usually set at a specific score relative to par, such as the top 70 players and ties, or the top 65 players and ties. Players who finish above the cut line get to continue playing in the tournament over the weekend and compete for higher placements and prize money. On the other hand, players who finish below the cut line are eliminated from the tournament and do not get to play the final two rounds.

Players Championship cut line history

Over the last 10 years, the cut line at the Players Championship has seen a wide range of cut lines. Three times we saw a cut line of +2, whereas Even was the cut line twice, along with two tournaments that had a cut line of -1. The event was cancelled in 2020 due to the Covid pandemic. Players Championship projected cut line FAQs

How is the cut line determined for the Players Championship?

The cut line for the Players Championship is set at the top 70 players and ties based on their position on the leaderboard after the first two rounds. This method allows for a dynamic cut line based on actual player performance, rather than a fixed score relative to par. What does it mean to make the cut in golf?

In golf, making the cut refers to players who have scored well enough in the first two rounds of a tournament to continue competing over the weekend rounds. Typically, the cut line is set at a specific score or ranking, and players who finish above this line advance to play the final two rounds. Making the cut is important as it allows players to have a chance to earn higher placements, prize money, and potentially contend for the tournament title.

Do you get paid if you miss the cut at the Players Championship?

Players who miss the cut at the Players Championship do not receive prize money. Only those who make the cut and finish in a certain position are eligible for prize money.
