bet365, one of Europe’s largest and most prominent American sports betting operator, moved its U.S. headquarters to Denver, Colorado.
A Monday announcement by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and Gov. Jared Polis revealed that the bookmaker selected the Mile-High City as its new home. The headquarters will reside at One Platte on Platte Street, one of downtown Denver’s most prominent commercial neighborhoods.
The company plans to hire more than 1,000 employees for the Denver office before all is said and done.
Finding a home
bet365 was founded by Denise Coates in 2000. Its first office was a portable building in Stoke-On-Trent, a city halfway between Manchester and Birmingham in the center of England.
The company launched its Denver location with 50 on-site employees. It hopes to bring on another 300 within its first year before eventually reaching its goal of 1,000.
Job vacancies include those related to software and technology development, marketing, finance, legal, trading, customer service, facilities, human resources, and recruitment.
The Colorado Economic Development Commission greenlighted more than $14 million in tax credits over eight years based on the company’s performance metrics. The credits will only be distributed if bet365 meets hiring and salary standards.
“We are thrilled to welcome bet365 and nearly 1,000 jobs to Colorado and congratulate them on the grand opening of their new U.S. headquarters here,” Gov. Polis said in a release. “bet365 will create nearly 1,000 new good-paying jobs and as many as 300 this year that will help Coloradans earn a good living and support their families.
“We are confident they will quickly find that our great state is the best place to live, work and do business.”
bet365 continues to grow
bet365 launched its sportsbook in Colorado in September 2022, the company’s second state of its now nine jurisdictions.
The sports betting giant had an office in New Jersey where it employed members of its 7,000-person international team. The move to Denver will cause that number to rise, especially with the promise of tax credits.
“With the aid of OEDIT’s incentives investment, this project will not only create up to 1,000 high-quality jobs but also solidify Denver’s reputation as a hub for innovation and business,” said President of the Metro Denver EDC, Raymond H. Gonzales. “We look forward to the lasting impact this partnership will have on our community, driving both economic opportunity and vibrancy for Denver’s downtown for years to come.”
bet365 is one of 16 operational sportsbooks in Colorado. The list also includes mega-competitors such as FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, Caesars, ESPN Bet, and Fanatics, among others.
According to bet365’s website, its sportsbook services millions of transactions and users daily.
