19+. Gambling can be addictive, please play responsibly.

When Canadian parliament passed Bill C-218, each province was allowed to determine its own online sports betting laws. Ontario was the first and currently the only province to regulate sports betting and allow third-party operators to launch with approval. Every sportsbook that wishes to open its virtual doors in the province must obtain a license from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) to operate legally.

As dozens of Ontario betting sites provide their own apps, we’ve sorted through the options and picked out the best choices. You can find out more about these brands below.

A lot of the other sportsbook apps begin lagging while looking at live events, so it's hard to place a bet. bet365 seems to be so much better so far. I LOVE how it shows how many points you are winning or losing on your ticket live with each game. Giving 4 stars for now and will come back after using it for a bit.” - Joseph, Google Play store user

What makes a good Ontario sports betting app?

Several factors go into deciding the best betting apps in Ontario. Below, we’ve listed some crucial factors we look at when completing our expert reviews.

Security

Since you have to trust Ontario sports betting apps with your personal and financial information, the most essential aspect of a solid platform is its security features. We only recommend apps licensed and regulated by the AGCO. Reputable payment methods, user authentication, and clear privacy policies are other crucial features we look for.

Storage space

Nobody wants to download something that takes up all the storage space on their mobile device. The best Ontario sports betting apps offer a vast selection of features at a reasonable download size.

Odds

We want to make sure you go home with the best chance of turning a profit, so we look for Ontario online betting apps that provide competitive odds. The better your odds, the more money you stand to make.

💡Oddspedia tip: Sign up with more than one Ontario betting app to compare odds for the same event and find the best price.

Market coverage

Great Ontario betting apps provide markets for a wide range of sports, including major leagues like the NFL, NBA and MLB, as well as niche options. Plus, the best sites give bettors plenty of bet types when it comes to wagering on each of those events, including moneylines, point spreads, parlays and futures.

Banking

Since you’ll need to deposit real money to wager via Ontario betting apps, payment selection is another vital element to consider. The best platforms will cover all bases with a range of top-quality debit cards, credit cards, e-wallets, and bank transfer options. Flexible minimum deposit and withdrawal limits also score bonus points.

Live betting

Last but not least, we favour Ontario sports betting apps offering live betting. With this feature, you can enjoy wagering on games and events as they happen in real-time, making for a more immersive and strategic betting experience. You can often find more enticing odds as the game unfolds.

How to download Ontario sports betting apps

Downloading an Ontario betting app only takes a few seconds. Follow our simple step-by-step guide to get started.

1. Go to your device’s app store

Open the app store on your mobile device or tablet. If you are playing with an iOS device, this will be the Apple App Store. On Android devices, it is the Google Play Store.

2. Search for your betting app

Enter the name of your sportsbook into the search bar. This will bring up a list of relevant options. Some sportsbooks have an Ontario-specific app, so if you see this listed, this is the edition of the app you should download.

3. Download the app to your mobile device

Choose the download option. Once the installation is complete, the app will appear on your device, and you can use it to wager on sports anywhere in Ontario where you have a connection.

How to sign up for Ontario sports betting apps

As Ontario sports betting apps must comply with the province's betting laws, they are required to obtain some of your personal information before you sign up. This is to protect you from fraud and underage gambling.

While your ON sportsbook app needs a lot of information, most operators have streamlined the sign-up experience so you can begin in minutes. Follow our guidance below to get started.

1. Open your sportsbook app

Find your sportsbook app and tap to open it. The operator will request access to your geolocation services to prove you are playing within the borders of Ontario. Allow this through the app’s prompt, or go into your device settings and turn on these permissions manually.

2. Provide your details

Enter your name, address, date of birth, email, phone number, and other personal information. Ontario sportsbooks will ask for details on your profession and ask you to confirm that you are not a politically exposed person (PEP). You may also need to create a password and username for your new account and agree to the sportsbook's terms and conditions.

3. Make a deposit

Go to the cashier section of your mobile sports betting app and choose to deposit. Select a payment method and add the necessary details to connect it to your sports betting account. Decide how much to deposit and confirm the amount to complete your transaction.

4. Start placing bets

Now that you have money in your account, you're free to start locking in some bets. Browse the available markets, choose one that interests you and add it to your bet slip. Decide your stake, confirm your wager, and cross your fingers that it comes back a winner.

Benefits of using Ontario betting apps vs. desktop

Whether you prefer playing via a desktop site or an app is down to personal preference. However, there are some perks that may swing bettors towards playing on mobile devices.

🏪 Convenience: While bringing a laptop around with you may be tricky, an Ontario mobile betting app makes this easy. You can place legal bets anywhere in Ontario that you have an internet connection.

🔒 Enhanced security: Ontario betting apps integrate standard phone features to add more security measures, letting you use Face ID and Touch ID to secure your accounts.

🚨 Notifications: You can turn on push notifications to give your Ontario betting app permission to send you alerts about your wagers, popular markets and more.

💳 Additional payment methods: Mobile platforms may allow you to use banking options unavailable through a desktop site, such as Apple Pay.

Betting markets

A wide variety of markets is key if a sportsbook wants to boast the best betting app. Ontario users should be provided with dozens of popular options for every sport, from the biggest leagues to niche events.

Betting features

Our team looks for apps that offer fun features, like live streaming, to improve the betting experience. We also appreciate if an operator has unique features you won’t see at any of its competitors.

May 2026: The AGCO fined Arrise Solutions Limited and Relax Gaming Limited $40,000 after an investigation uncovered that "games created by these companies were available on unregulated gambling websites accessible to Ontario players." Even with that slowdown, both wagering and revenue remained about 22% higher than in February 2025, underscoring the market’s continued year-over-year growth. Because it isn’t an immediate suspension order, nothing will take effect for at least 15 days, with PointsBet eligible to appeal the decision within that time frame.
