There are a total of 16 teams that make it to the NBA playoffs. Eight teams from each conference, the Eastern Conference, and the Western Conference, qualify for the playoffs based on their regular-season performance. The top eight teams from each conference compete in a series of best-of-seven game matchups to determine the conference champions and eventually the NBA champion.
When do the NBA playoffs start?
The start date of the 2024 NBA playoffs is on April 17th, 2024. The playoffs begin during the NBA play-in tournament, which determines the last two teams to make the playoffs. While further rounds have pre-determined dates but can moved ahead by a day or two if the previous round ends earlier than anticipated.
