Already, last week we saw some interesting matches, for example when Cerezo Osaka faced Kashima Antlers and lost 0-2. Furthermore, there was the match of Machida Zelvia vs. Kyoto Sanga FC. Here, Machida Zelvia was the winner, defeating Kyoto Sanga FC 1-0. Yet another very watchable match was Kashiwa Reysol vs. Vissel Kobe, although no team managed to prevail and it ended in a 1-1 draw. Here, on Oddspedia, we provide you with a detailed overview and statistics of the upcoming J.League matchday in Japan– detailed information forall upcoming games, the teams and their recent form.
Matchweek 38 Highlights
Probably the most anticipated match will be Gamba Osaka vs Sanfrecce Hiroshima on 12/08/2024 at 05:00. Sanfrecce Hiroshima has the upper hand in this match, since they are currently on the second place in the table. However, they still want to make sure to keep their rank. Both teams won their last match (Gamba Osaka won against Albirex Niigata and Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo was beaten by Sanfrecce Hiroshima), so it will be exciting to see which one of them will play better in their upcoming clash. A look at their recent performance might shed some light on that question: Gamba Osaka was able to win the majority of their latest matches, however Sanfrecce Hiroshima wasn't as lucky, losing 3 of their last 5 games.
Another match fans are looking forward to takes place on 12/08/2024 at 05:00. Here, Kashima Antlers (currently in 5th place) will face Machida Zelvia (3rd place). They both could overthrow their opponent in their last match (Machida Zelvia played against Kyoto Sanga FC and Kashima Antlers won against Cerezo Osaka), so they will both be motivated to continue their winning streak. Looking at the teams' performance in their last matches can also be an indicator about their current form: Kashima Antlers's performance hasn't been that great lately, they only managed a draw in most of their recent games. Machida Zelvia performed a bit better, losing 2 and winning 2 of their last 5 matches.
People are also excited to see Vissel Kobe fight against Shonan Bellmare. They currently are in 1st place and 15th place, making their match interesting to watch. Both will have to step up their game and show their fans what they're made of, since none of them won their last match. You can also look at their recent performance to get an idea of their chances in the upcoming match: Shonan Bellmare managed to be victorious in most of their recent games, winning 3 out of their last 5. Vissel Kobe performed alright in their recent matches. They achieved two victories and lost 1 out of five times.

Current J.League Table
Vissel Kobe are currently leading the table with 69 points and a goal differencial of 22 (58 scored and 36 received). So far, they have won 20 out of their 37 matches–but since they're only leading by 1 point, Sanfrecce Hiroshima (2/68pts) could take the lead this week, if they win their match against Gamba Osaka (4/63pts). Of course, Vissel Kobe would also have to lose their match. In any case, players will give their best to help their team win. But not only the top of the table has some interesting matches to offer–teams in the lower half also have to fight hard to stay in their league and not finish the season in last place. At the last place, there are Sagan Tosu (20/32pts) with 32 points–and since they're already 9 points away from the last safe place, there's unfortunately no way they're going to be staying in the league after this season.
The biggest positive change in position, compared to the last matchday, has been made by Kawasaki Frontale (12/47 points), who moved up two positions and are now in 12th place in the league. On the other side, Urawa Red Diamonds (11/49 points) made the biggest loss in positions, losing a total of two ranks.
