Oddspedia provides you with full coverage on FC Bayern Munich. Here you will find the latest news, upcoming FC Bayern Munich fixtures or transfer rumours around the German champions and their current squad, as well as the best odds for all Bayern matches. Detailed statistics as well as the goal scorers, injuries and live commentary are available within each event page on the site.

Club Profile and a Brief History of Stern des Südens

FC Bayern München is the largest sports club in the world in terms of members and also one of the best known and most popular sports brands with a total of around 680 million sympathizers who organize themselves into over 200 fan clubs. FC Bayern München was founded in 1900, but played a subordinate role in German football in the first half of the 20th century and was only able to win the German Championship once in 1932.

When the German Bundesliga was founded before the 1962/63 season, FC Bayern Munich was not even one of the chosen clubs, as the DFB gave preference to TSV 1860 München as a participant for the city of Munich. However, FC Bayern rose to the top in the 1964/65 season, and in the first German Bundesliga season, the club directly took third place in the final table. Three years later - in the 1968/69 season - the club won its first championship since 1932. In the meantime, the club has won the DFB Cup three times and the European Cup once.

1970 brought the era of coaching legend Udo Lattek - until then a youth coach at the DFB - and brought the greatest German talents to Säbener Straße. Including Uli Hoeneß, Gerd Müller and Franz Beckenbauer, who was about to sign with local rivals 1860 Munich.

In the following years, FC Bayern Munich won the European Cup of State Champions three times in a row - the equivalent of today's UEFA Champions League at the time - and most of the players who won the 1974 World Cup with Germany also came from Bavaria.

German Bundesliga - Perpetual Winners

Although FC Bayern Munich was not one of the founding members of the German Bundesliga, it has still played most of its matches and scored by far the most points thanks to its steady success. Since the founding of the German Bundesliga (1962), FC Bayern has won 30 championships, most recently nine times in a row.

Notable Players

In addition, the Munich Olympic Stadium and, since 2005, the Allianz Arena have been home to some of the best players in the history of football. Including:

  • Franz Beckenbauer - the Kaiser
  • Karl-Heinz Rummenigge - King Kalle
  • Gerd Müller - Der Bomber
  • Oliver Kahn -  the Titan
  • Lothar Matthäus - known in Italy as "Il Grande"

Currently, the team is still peppered with top stars such as Robert Lewandowski, Serge Gnabry and Manuel Neuer.

UEFA Champions League - Stalwarts of Europe

On the European stage, only three clubs (Real Madrid, AC Milan, FC Liverpool) have won the Champions League more often, and only two clubs have played in more finals (Real Madrid and AC Milan). However, FC Bayern is the only club that has all the European and global cups in its club museum, i.e.

  • UEFA Champions League
  • UEFA Cup (now Europa League)
  • European Cup Winners' Cup held from 1960/61 to 1998/99
  • UEFA Super Cup
  • FIFA World Cup
  • FIFA Club World Cup
