Why sign up with more than one New York sportsbook?
There are nine legal betting sites in New York, each offering a unique set of benefits and perks. So, why not sign up for several sportsbooks and reap the rewards? Here's why you should consider joining multiple NY sportsbooks:
Claim multiple promotions
New York sportsbooks offer generous welcome bonuses to attract new customers and ongoing promotions to reward the loyalty of returning bettors. Welcome offers will usually include large bonus bets or bet insurance. Ongoing promotions may consist of deposit matches, odds boosts and more. You can also keep your eye out for a sportsbook referral bonus if you have friends looking to place wagers.
By signing up with different online betting sites in New York, you can regularly enjoy many promos and boost your bankroll. For example, joining FanDuel and Caesars Sportsbook New York will allow you to claim two great welcome bonuses.
Find the best odds

Oddspedia's odds comparison tool is a quick way to find the best value for a specific wager.
Bet types available at New York sportsbooks
The best New York sports betting sites offer a wide range of gambling options. Here are some of the most popular bet types you’ll find:
Moneylines
Moneyline wagers are one of the most popular types of bets available. Whether you’re betting on the New York Rangers, Giants, Yankees, or someone else, all you have to do is pick a team to win.
Point spreads
When placing a spread wager, the betting operator will determine a point deficit (‘spread’) for a certain game. You will need to bet on the underdog covering the spread or on the favorite not allowing the underdog to do so. Even if the favorite wins, but not by a big enough margin, the bet will go the underdog's way.
For example, if you bet on the New York Jets to cover -3.5 points and they only win by a field goal, your bet will still come up short.
Totals (Over/Unders)
New York sportsbooks will offer totals bets, which are also known as Over/Unders. When placing a totals wager, you will have to predict whether the total amount of points, or other statistics, will be over or under a certain amount.
For example, if the New York Giants are playing the Buffalo Bills, you will have to guess if the total points scored during the game will be over or under the set amount.
Props
Prop bets allow you to bet on a statistical performance (such as yards covered, goals scored, etc.) of either a specific player or an entire team. For example, you might bet on the Jets' quarterback to throw for two or more touchdowns in his next game.
Futures
When placing a futures wager, you will need to predict a major event that will be occurring down the line. For example, you might bet the New York Yankees to win the World Series, the Buffalo Bills to win the Super Bowl, or the Brooklyn Nets to win the NBA title.
Parlays
Parlays bundle up several individual wagers, called 'legs', into one big bet. If your parlay hits, you'll cash a bigger payout than if you bet on each leg separately. But here's the kicker: every single leg has to be a winner for your parlay to pay out. For example, you might bet on the Jets, Giants and Bills to win on the same weekend. If they all emerge victorious, you'll get a nice return.
Some New York sports betting apps offer parlay insurance, allowing you to get a payout even if one or more of the legs lose.
Same-game parlays
As the name suggests, this type of parlay comprises multiple bets that are placed on one single game. It can include different types of bets, but these must all be made on the same sporting event.
For example, you might bet on the Bills to win the game, their quarterback to throw for 300 yards and their running back to rush for a touchdown.

Upcoming sports betting launches
For many decades, legal sports betting was limited to Nevada and a few other states that allowed specific types of gambling on niche events. The climate changed dramatically in 2018 when the U.S. Supreme Court annulled the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA).
The decision revoked Nevada’s near-monopoly status on sports betting and paved the way for U.S. states to legalize their own markets. Since then, over 30 states, plus Washington D.C., have legalized sports wagering.
North Carolina was the most recent state that launched legal sports betting, with some of the nation's best sportsbooks going live there on March 11, 2024. Other states that could possibly legalize sports gambling soon include Missouri, Oklahoma, and Minnesota.
