Cut line

The cut line at the Masters is an added pressure on golfers to perform at the top levels, otherwise, they’re going home empty-handed. And we don’t mean without the trophy, we’re talking prize money as well. The 2023 Masters cut line wasn’t particularly kind to some big names in the golf world, as Bryson DeChambeau, Mike Weir, Corey Conners, and Rory McIlroy all missed the cut. Check out the Masters projected cut line for a more in-depth analysis.

Playoff

In golf, a playoff hole comes into play when players end a tournament tied after all the rounds are done. It’s like sudden-death drama where golfers keep playing extra holes until one shines brighter by scoring lower than the other on the same hole. If they’re still neck and neck after a set number of holes, they might keep going with the sudden-death or switch it up with a full round or a closest-to-the-pin contest.

Winning margin

In golf, the winning score is all about how many strokes a player takes throughout the tournament, which usually lasts a few rounds. Whoever ends up with the fewest total strokes by the end is the champ. Keep in mind that golf scores are measured against par, so the lower the score compared to par, the better the player’s doing. So, it’s the player with the lowest total strokes in relation to par who clinches the victory.

1 stroke exactly +200
2 strokes exactly +350
3 strokes exactly +600
4 strokes or more +350

Masters prop betting strategy

The are so many factors that could positively or negatively affect a golfer’s tournament. If the wind’s are strong, you can expect some unfortunate drives off the tee. When a golfer’s in a rut with his mid-range game, you know he’s gripping his irons just a tad more. And perhaps Augusta just isn’t kind to certain golfers, yes, we’re talking about McIlroy.

Analyze form

Assessing a player’s current performance is essential when looking ahead to a golf tournament. In this year’s Masters, Scottie Scheffler is undoubtedly in outstanding form, outshining all the other players. It’s worth noting that the odds for the top-ranked global golfer may not offer significant value.

Course history

A golfer’s familiarity and past performance at a tournament’s course can significantly impact their game. Knowing the course layout, conditions, and intricacies can provide a mental advantage and boost confidence. Positive memories of past successes or struggles on certain holes can also influence strategy and decision-making during the tournament.

Weather

Weather conditions, such as wind, rain, or extreme heat, can greatly influence a golfer’s performance during a tournament. Changing weather can alter ball flights, shot distances, and putting greens. Players need to adjust their strategy, club selection, and shot execution based on the prevailing weather conditions to optimize their performance.

Masters prop bet FAQs

How do prop bets in golf work?

Prop betting in golf involves placing wagers on specific outcomes or events within a tournament, such as predicting a player’s score on a particular hole or whether a player will hit a hole-in-one. These bets are separate from the overall tournament outcome and are based on various player or course-related factors. Prop bets can add excitement and engagement for spectators, offering a wide range of unique betting options beyond the tournament winner.

Can you do parlay prop bets in golf?

Parlay prop bets in golf combine multiple individual prop bets into a single wager with increased odds. Each prop bet within the parlay must be successful for the overall bet to win, offering higher potential payouts. For example, a parlay prop bet could involve predicting multiple players to achieve specific outcomes, such as hitting the fairway on a particular hole or making a certain number of birdies during a round.

What happens to your bet if the golfer withdraws?

If a golfer withdraws from a tournament before it begins, bets on that player are usually voided, and the stake is returned. However, if a golfer withdraws during a tournament, bets are typically settled based on the tournament’s rules. Some sportsbooks may consider the bet lost, while others may refund the stakes as a push or have specific terms for such instances.
